A project should be considered complete when it fulfills its intended purpose, even if it is not perfect.

No. Closer to the latter than the former, but even when something goes out the door, I rarely feel it is good enough. It's entered the public sphere, and therefore continuing to edit it would be fruitless; but I always feel like there is more I could do, some little tweak or adjustment that could make it better. For the most part, a project is finished when I decide to stop working on it.

#ScribesAndMakers MAY-2 Finishing a project: good enough or something more? I don't really think of creative work along those lines. Like, I want it all to be good, of course. But my metric is more along the lines of "does this accomplish what I want it to accomplish?" If yes, I'm done. Sometimes this results in really effective outputs. Sometimes, though, it can be a bit of a barrier. I have this little video game that I set out to make, a mobile action game which I had very intentionally wanted to design for banging out a round or two in a few minutes while decompressing. And the prototype got to that point, where it was fun and engaging for that specific purpose, and then I just kind of... stopped. It did what I set out to do, but it's not in any way a finished game. So "does it accomplish what I want it to accomplish?" is a very sharp double-edged sword.
