So Apple used AI to design the failing hinge on their overpriced foldable phone? I can’t help but feel a little Schadenfreude.

Wow. Apple used AI *magic* for the hinge in their foldable phone. Which has a low yield and customers are ending up with broken phones. Using all this clever stuff isn’t the flex they think it is. They designed something fragile with little tolerance for variation. In a part that will be operated multiple times every day. Rather than finding a better solution — or just not making such a stupid phone — they went to elaborate steps to make it work… and it’s still fucked. https://techcrunch.com/2026/09/09/the-hinge-for-apples-new-foldable-phone-was-built-with-ai/
