The collective activity centers on enthusiastic celebrations of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings material, fueled by a 'Tolkien Reading Day' observance. Specific actions noted include sharing memes and marking dedicated reading days. Interpretive theory formed a key point of focus, with @Virginicus making a detailed argument about allegory. The user cited Tolkien's disdain for allegory as 'the purposed domination of the author,' suggesting that reader connection-making must remain voluntary. Other contributors expressed general excitement, exemplified by @[email protected] sharing links to external news, alongside simple greetings from @[email protected]. General fan enthusiasm dominates the emotional tone. However, the most intellectually robust commentary comes from @Virginicus, who establishes a clear boundary between acceptable reader speculation and imposed authorial allegory, giving weight to literary theory in the fandom discussion.

RE: https://wandering.shop/@Violinknitter/116318587697171792 #Tolkien said the reason he cordially detested allegory was “the purposed domination of the author.” The most important lesson to take away from #LotR is that dominating other people is bad! It’s fine, and even desirable, to look for connections between Middle-earth and our primary world, but the author doesn’t force it on you, so it’s not allegory.
