Google Maps renamed Lake Ontario to 'Lake America' in response to political pressure from former President Donald Trump.

Google Maps capitulates to Trump, renaming Lake Ontario Lake America; this follows their previous capitulation, following Trump's renaming of the Gulf of Mexico. MapQuest has maintained the names Lake Ontario and the Gulf of Mexico in their app. We have removed the Google Maps apps from our phones and replaced it with the MapQuest app. https://www.rawstory.com/trump-lake-ontario-2677795579/

“Google's Calling Lake Ontario 'Lake America' Now” https://www.404media.co/google-maps-lake-america-lake-ontario-name-change/ Fuck you, Google.

Google has already changed the name on their maps to "Lake America". Google smells like Trump ass, stop using them. https://techcrunch.com/2026/08/31/mapquests-app-surges-to-no-1-in-navigation-after-refusing-to-rename-lake-ontario/
