That's an opening, though. We can talk about how to protect kids & youth from for-profit mental manipulation tools. I think it's time to admit, for all privacy & cybersecurity experts, that it's not enough to keep telling officials how dangerous it is to have companies & governments collecting government ID for every online interaction. Even socialists in a fascist world aren't convinced. So, we need to talk about alternatives to age verification regimes. Ones that don't require the collection of ID. Alternatives include parental controls, like the California proposal: set age on device, no ID required, with a new OS API for apps & websites to check if a minimum is reached. Or (and!), regulate the algorithmic manipulation of all ages. #CdnPoli
