Protesters confronted Palantir's involvement in an ethics debate at De Balie in Amsterdam, directly challenging the company over its alleged software testing on Palestinians and complicity in Gaza war crimes. This event served as a flashpoint for intense debate regarding the company’s moral standing. Viewers are split: One side, exemplified by @[email protected], argues Palantir is ethically toxic due to its alleged actions in Gaza. Conversely, @[email protected] attempted to muddy the waters by linking an article that suggested Palantir issued a manifesto against certain cultures, dismissing the 'evil' label. A structural critique from @[email protected] separated Palantir’s history into a US government/security side and a global commercial wing. The prevailing current of critique focuses on the company’s alleged complicity in conflict zones. While structural analysts dissect its dual nature, the sharpest popular consensus accuses Palantir of having an unaddressed ethical hazard stemming from its alleged role in Gaza, casting doubt on its technological legitimacy.

Not to defend necessarily, but for a long time Palantir was basically two companies. There was a security-clearance government (mostly US) side, and a more global, cosmopolitan, and liberal side that primarily handled commercial clients and some non-US gov stuff. Palantir, though, is regressive even by cyberpunk standards, attempting to resurrect race and gender categories that cyberpunk assumed, like Marx, would melt into the air as capitalism unleashed the terrible power of pure, naked exploitation.
