Radio NZ has been asking for months if there are coordination problems between agencies that are delaying helicopters or planes getting to rescues.
A new system to fix gaps & get SAR helicopters & planes to emergencies faster was tested late last year & sped up rescues.
But it might take two to three years to roll it out nationally 😬
