Love this ghost sign on 307 West George Street in Glasgow, which identifies it as the former office of the wonderfully named Glasgow architect Ninian MacWhannell. A former student of Glasgow School of Art, MacWhannell specialised in designing late Victorian and Edwardian public buildings such as schools and hospitals. Over the years, he worked with two other GSA graduates, John Rogerson and John Reid, and if you look below the top layer of paint, you can just make out the name MacWhannell, Rogerson and Reid underneath. It's worth noting that if this building had been cleaned, as many others have been across Glasgow, this ghost sign would probably have been lost. #glasgow #ghostsign #ninianmacwhannell #glasgowarchitects #glasgowhistory
