New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he is still discussing with authorities whether ICC-wanted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could be arrested if he visits the city for the United Nations General Assembly in September.

"I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague," Mamdani told The New York Times, referring to the seat of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu over alleged war crimes in Gaza.

"He's a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court," Mamdani said.
