A bit of a #recordstoreday plea from your friendly neighborhood Vinyl Ape, for all of you who plan to head out for #rsd tomorrow: When you’re in your local shops tomorrow, trying to score whatever it is you’re after, don’t forget to grab some things that your store can actually make profit on. Find some USED vinyl, USED CDs, maybe some T-Shirts or store branded record bags. When RSD started, it wasn’t about over-priced picture discs and $50 Taylor Swift 7” singles. It was about getting you to the store, and getting you to support your independent record shops, and contributing to their survival, as well as everything they do for your community. Record Store Day is Saturday, April 18, 2026 at AADL’s Downtown location, 343 South Fifth Avenue, Ann Arbor. The event is free and runs 11 am-5 pm. Now an annual event each April, the fair targets vinyl enthusiasts and features vendors selling used records, memorabilia, and gear. @slevelt back for #RecordStoreDay in 2014 I located a nearby store (Gold Mine in Fitzroy <https://www.goldminerecords.com.au/>) and checked their RSD supply at their site. Most stores have that list, usually as a PDF, sometimes listed. So I’d suggest find a few close stores that have that artist or style and check their site prior, the rock up. This year's #RecordStoreDay haul: (from left clockwise) A free tote bag from 89.3 The Current, our local public radio station, another tote with stickers and freebies underneath that, Down in the Valley's RSD t-shirt, Johnny Blue Skies 7", Bob Mould - Body of Song 20th anniversary, and a Taylor Swift 7" for my daughter. I arrived at 2:45 a.m., was 20th in line, and didn't get the Peter Gabriel Sledgehammer zoetrope I was hoping for.
