UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese told Al Jazeera that the violence in Qusra must be viewed within Israel’s decades-long occupation and “total impunity” toward Palestinians, warning that the situation has reached “a climax.” She stresses that the “occupation is illegal” and that Palestinians remain entitled to protection under international law, including safeguards against disproportionate military action. Albanese added that “Israel has outsourced coercion to the settlers” and is “advancing violently the ethnic cleansing of Palestine through the settlers,” condemning the international community as “incredible and utterly shameful” for allowing it to continue.
