The tradition of setting empty tables on August 29 in Ukraine and abroad serves as a public remembrance for those who died defending Ukraine.

Today, thousands of Tables of Remembrance have been set across Ukraine and abroad. In cafés and restaurants, bookshops and libraries, universities and schools, one place is left empty – for someone who should have been here, but gave their life for Ukraine.

On August 29, thousands of tables appear across #Ukraine and around the world, set for those who gave their lives for the country and will never return. For the fourth year in a row, the Memory Table initiative brings this tradition of remembrance to public spaces.
